Posting to X from code costs anything from a fraction of a cent to 20 cents a post. The biggest single factor is whether the post contains a link: the official X API charges more than thirteen times as much for it. Flat-fee services avoid the meter but cap posts per day or links per month.

We run TwittrAPI, one of the options below. Every other number comes from the provider's own pages, checked on 20 October 2026, and links to its source.

## Five ways to post, side by side (as of October 2026)

| | Price | Per post | Per post with a link | How it reaches X |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Official X API, pay-per-use | Prepaid credits | $0.015 per post created (as of October 2026) | $0.200 per post with a URL (as of October 2026) | Official API, OAuth, your developer app |
| OpenTweet | Pro $19.99, Advanced $29, Agency $49 per month (as of October 2026) | Included up to 20, 100, 300 posts per day (Pro, Advanced, Agency) (as of October 2026) | Included up to 30, 300, 600 posts with links per month (Pro, Advanced, Agency) (as of October 2026) | Official API |
| Blotato | Starter $29, Creator $97, Agency $499 per month (as of October 2026) | no per-post fee; the price does not change with posting volume (as of October 2026) | Same | Official API, Blotato's apps |
| Postproxy | Agentic $17 per month with 5 connected profiles and unlimited posts (as of October 2026) | Included; X capped at 20 posts per 24 hours per account (as of October 2026) | Same | Official API |
| TwittrAPI account actions | Prepaid balance | One call: $0.0001 ($0.000065 on Bulk) | Same, no surcharge | Your X session cookie and proxy |

The flat-fee services also cover other networks. OpenTweet adds Bluesky and LinkedIn, Blotato 9 platforms, X included (as of October 2026), Postproxy 12 networks.

## 1,000 posts a month

About 33 posts a day on one account. Base prices, no promotions or annual discounts.

| | 1,000 posts, no links | 1,000 posts with links |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Official X API | $15 | $200 |
| OpenTweet | $29 (Advanced; Pro stops at 20 a day) | Above every plan's link allowance (Agency: 600 a month); more only as add-on link credits |
| Blotato | $29 (Starter) | $29 (Starter) |
| Postproxy | Above the X cap of 20 a day for one account | Same |
| TwittrAPI | $0.10 plus your proxy | $0.10 plus your proxy |

Notes on the rows:

- **X API.** 1,000 × $0.015 and 1,000 × $0.200. You also need a developer app in the X Developer Console.
- **OpenTweet.** If you use every post a plan allows, a post costs $0.033 on Pro, $0.0097 on Advanced, $0.0054 on Agency per post, every daily post used (as of October 2026), and a post with a link $0.67 on Pro, $0.097 on Advanced, $0.082 on Agency per post with a link, every link post used (as of October 2026).
- **Blotato.** The plan price does not change with volume. X itself allows no Blotato cap on X (X: 100 requests per user per 24 hours) (as of October 2026). The API is not part of the free trial.
- **Postproxy.** Spread over two or more accounts at up to 20 a day each, the Agentic plan at $17 covers it. For one account it offers higher X throughput through pay-as-you-go or BYOK (your own X API key), no price published (as of October 2026), and its terms say the X quota can be raised on request (as of October 2026). BYOK means your own X API app, which X bills at its own rates.
- **TwittrAPI.** 1,000 calls on the Standard tier. An image upload is one more call. You bring your own proxy.

## The link fee

On the official API a plain post costs $0.015 and a post with a URL $0.200. X introduced the URL rate with its April 2026 price update ([changelog](https://docs.x.com/changelog)). Most automated posting shares links: blog posts, product pages, releases. For those, $0.200 is the price to budget with.

Flat-fee services handle links differently. OpenTweet gives each plan a monthly link allowance, from 30 on Pro to 600 on Agency. Blotato and Postproxy publish no separate link limit. TwittrAPI bills a post with a link like any other call.

Our [X API pricing article](https://www.twittrapi.com/blog/x-api-pricing-2026) has the full official price list.

## What the official API no longer does on self-serve tiers

Two changes in X's changelog affect posting bots:

- on self-serve tiers, replies through POST /2/tweets only when the original author mentioned or quoted the replying account (since February 23, 2026) (as of October 2026).
- following, likes and quote posts removed from all self-serve tiers (since April 20, 2026) (as of October 2026).

The services that post through the official API inherit these rules. OpenTweet's FAQ, for example, says agents cannot reply to other people's posts, because of X's API reply rules (as of October 2026).

## OAuth vs session cookie

The official API and the three flat-fee services connect your account through X's own sign-in (OAuth). You never hand over a password or a cookie.

TwittrAPI's [account actions](https://www.twittrapi.com/docs/account-actions) work differently. Each call carries the session cookie of a browser logged in to your X account and goes out through your own proxy. That is why replies, likes, follows and DMs are available, and why there is no link surcharge. The trade-offs:

- **X's terms.** X's [Terms of Service](https://x.com/en/tos) say you may access the services only through the published interfaces X provides. A web session driven from code is not one of them. Our article on [scraping X](https://www.twittrapi.com/blog/how-to-scrape-twitter-x-data) covers what the terms say in more detail.
- **Account risk.** X can limit or suspend accounts that post, follow or like automatically. Our [session docs](https://www.twittrapi.com/docs/x-session) recommend a dedicated account rather than your main one.
- **Upkeep.** Logging out ends the session; you copy a new cookie. Anyone who has the cookie can act as you, so keep it secret.

If a compliance team has to sign off, or the account matters more than the savings, use the official API or a service built on it.

## Which one fits

- **A few posts a month, no links**: the official API. 100 plain posts cost $1.50.
- **Daily posting with links on one or two accounts, plus a scheduler**: OpenTweet or Blotato, on the official API.
- **Many accounts, many networks**: Blotato or Postproxy; check the X caps first.
- **High volume, replies and DMs, or reading X on the same key**: TwittrAPI account actions, if the session-cookie trade-off is acceptable. Compare [TwittrAPI with OpenTweet](https://www.twittrapi.com/compare/opentweet) for the details.

Our prices are on the [pricing page](https://www.twittrapi.com/pricing). The free test credit from [/start](https://www.twittrapi.com/start) covers reads; account actions need a first top-up.

TwittrAPI is not affiliated with X Corp., OpenTweet, Blotato or Postproxy.
