twitterapi.io and TwittrAPI both sell public X data without an X developer account. The difference that matters most is the billing unit. twitterapi.io charges per tweet or profile returned, with a minimum charge per call. We charge a flat price per call, from $0.065 per 1,000 calls. This post compares the two on published numbers and shows how to test them against your own queries.

We run TwittrAPI, so read this with that in mind. Competitor details were checked on 2026-10-09 on [twitterapi.io](https://twitterapi.io/) and its [pricing page](https://twitterapi.io/pricing); the free credit again on 2026-10-12. Prices change, so confirm them before you decide.

## twitterapi.io charges $0.15 per 1,000 tweets

The [twitterapi.io homepage](https://twitterapi.io/) lists:

- $0.15 per 1,000 tweets
- $0.18 per 1,000 profiles
- $1 in free credits for new accounts, no credit card required
- no Twitter developer account required

The [pricing page](https://twitterapi.io/pricing) explains the billing. Usage is counted in credits, and 1 USD buys 100,000 credits. Every API call costs at least $0.00015 (15 credits). Bonus credits you get from a recharge are valid for 31 days. The homepage says the $1 sign-up credit is given after an invisible bot check, once per person and network (an IP that signed up in the last 30 days gets $0.10), and expires after 31 days.

The two pages disagree on profiles. The pricing page says profiles cost "from $0.01 per 1K users", while the homepage says $0.18 per 1,000. We could not tell which figure applies to which endpoint, so the comparison below uses the tweet price, which both pages agree on.

twitterapi.io is an established service with a low per-tweet price. If it works for you, you may have no reason to move. The rest of this post is for teams who want numbers before deciding.

## TwittrAPI charges per call, from $0.065 per 1,000

TwittrAPI is a third-party API for public X data. It is not affiliated with X Corp. and cannot read private or protected accounts. Direct pricing is per 1,000 API calls:

| Tier | Price per 1,000 calls | Condition |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Scale | $0.065 | While your top-ups of the last 30 days add up to $500 or more |
| Volume | $0.075 | For 30 days after a top-up of $100 or more |
| Standard | $0.09 | Any top-up |

Every call costs the same within a tier, whatever the endpoint returns. Full details are on the [pricing page](https://www.twittrapi.com/pricing). For how both services limit request rates, see [Twitter API rate limits explained](https://www.twittrapi.com/blog/twitter-api-rate-limits).

### The balance does not expire

Direct accounts use a prepaid balance with no expiry date. You can top up once and spend it over a year. On twitterapi.io the bonus credits from a recharge expire after 31 days, according to its pricing page.

### 400, 408, 409 and 5xx errors are refunded

Calls that fail with 400, 408, 409 or a 5xx error are refunded at once. 404 and 422 are charged, because the request was processed.

### Three places to buy

1. **Direct**, through our customer dashboard. This is the cheapest route.
2. **RapidAPI**, on monthly plans: BASIC $0 for 300 requests, PRO $4.99 for 12,000, ULTRA $55 for 500,000, MEGA $95 for 1,000,000.
3. **JojAPI**, on the [JojAPI marketplace](https://jojapi.com/api/twitter-x-aio).

A marketplace makes sense if your company already pays for APIs there. Direct gets you the lowest per-call price.

### Free test credit, then prepaid top-ups

New direct accounts get $0.10 in free test credit after sign-up, about 1,100 calls at the Standard price. That is less than the $1 twitterapi.io gives new accounts. Crypto (USDT or USDC on Polygon, USDT on Tron, or Litecoin) with no surcharge, the cheapest way to pay. Card for one-time top-ups from $20 (9% card fee). USDT on Tron: minimum $50 and a $3 network fee per deposit, deducted from the credit. Auto top-up and invoices with VAT ID (reverse charge) for business customers on request.

## Per call and per tweet are different units

$0.15 per 1,000 tweets and $0.065 per 1,000 calls do not measure the same thing. Here is how they line up.

**Single-object lookups.** When one call returns one object, such as one tweet by ID or one profile, the units match. On twitterapi.io the minimum per call is $0.00015, so 1,000 such calls cost at least $0.15. On TwittrAPI they cost $0.065 to $0.09 depending on tier. We are cheaper for lookups because we charge per call and a lookup is one call.

**List endpoints.** Search, user timelines and follower lists return a page of results per call. With per-call pricing you pay once for that page, so your cost per tweet comes out lower than the per-call price. How much lower depends on the endpoint and your query, so we do not publish a tweets-per-call number.

To compare list workloads properly, run the same queries on both services and divide what you spent by the number of tweets or profiles you got back.

## Moving from twitterapi.io means mapping endpoints

Both are REST APIs that return JSON and take an API key in a header. Switching is mostly a job of mapping endpoints and response fields. The [migration guide from twitterapi.io](https://www.twittrapi.com/guides/migrate-from-twitterapi-io) has the full endpoint mapping, an adapter and before/after code, and [TwittrAPI vs twitterapi.io](https://www.twittrapi.com/compare/twitterapi-io) compares limits, formats and endpoints in one table.

### 1. List the endpoints you call

Write down every twitterapi.io endpoint in your code and roughly how often each runs. For most teams that is tweet search, user lookup, user tweets and followers.

### 2. Map them to TwittrAPI endpoints

The [API reference](https://www.twittrapi.com/docs/reference) has every endpoint with its parameters. It covers:

- **Search**: tweets by Top, Latest, People, Photos or Videos, with filters for language, date, hashtags and minimum likes, and cursor pagination.
- **Tweets**: tweet details with replies and conversation, simple tweet, article content, favorites, retweets and quotes.
- **Users**: by username or ID, user tweets, tweets and replies, media, likes, followers, verified followers, followings, articles, users by IDs, usernames to IDs, username status, about and the relationship between two accounts.
- **Communities**: search, details, members, moderators and tweets.
- **Lists**: details, tweets, members and followers.
- **Trends**: by location, and the list of available locations.
- **Jobs**: search, details and location lookup.
- **Misc**: hashflag emojis.

Response shapes differ between providers. Put the parsing in one adapter module so you can switch providers, or run both, by changing one file.

### 3. Make a first call

Direct requests send the key in the `X-API-KEY` header. A user lookup looks like this:

```bash
curl --request GET \
  --url 'https://api.twittrapi.com/user/by/username/XDevelopers' \
  --header 'X-API-KEY: YOUR_API_KEY'
```

Your base URL and key are in the customer dashboard. RapidAPI keys go in the `x-rapidapi-key` header instead, as the second tab shows.

### 4. Test with the free credit

Create an account at [/start](https://www.twittrapi.com/start) and spend the $0.10 test credit on a sample of your real queries. Note the number of calls, the number of results and the cost. Do the same on twitterapi.io. You now have a per-tweet figure for your own workload, which is worth more than either headline price. [The cheapest Twitter API in 2026](https://www.twittrapi.com/blog/cheapest-twitter-api-2026) shows the same method across more providers.

### 5. Move traffic in steps

Send a share of traffic to TwittrAPI, compare the results, then move the rest. Our balance does not expire, so you can leave a small amount on the account as a fallback after you finish.

## Frequently asked questions

### Is TwittrAPI cheaper than twitterapi.io?

For single-object lookups, yes on published prices: 1,000 lookups cost $0.065 to $0.09 with us and at least $0.15 on twitterapi.io because of its minimum charge per call. For search, timelines and follower lists it depends on how many results each call returns, so test with your own queries.

### Do I need an X developer account for either service?

No. Both issue their own API keys and serve public X data. Neither replaces the official X API for posting.

### Does a TwittrAPI balance expire?

No. The prepaid balance on a direct account has no expiry date. On twitterapi.io, bonus credits from a recharge are valid for 31 days according to its pricing page.

### Can I run both services while I migrate?

Yes. Put response parsing in one adapter module, send part of your traffic to each service and compare the results before you switch the rest.
