OpenTweet is a posting layer for X built for AI agents: a scheduler, a REST API, an MCP server and a CLI, for a flat monthly fee. TwittrAPI is a data API that also has account actions: post, reply, like and DM from your own X account, billed per call.

We run TwittrAPI. OpenTweet details below come from its own pages, checked on 20 October 2026. Each number links to its source.

## What a post costs

OpenTweet charges a flat fee, so the price of one post depends on how much of the plan you use. If you use every post the plan allows, that is $0.033 on Pro, $0.0097 on Advanced, $0.0054 on Agency per post, every daily post used (as of October 2026) (30 days a month). Posts with links have their own monthly allowance, which works out at $0.67 on Pro, $0.097 on Advanced, $0.082 on Agency per post with a link, every link post used (as of October 2026). Beyond that, OpenTweet sells more link posts as an add-on (link credits) (as of October 2026).

On TwittrAPI a post is one call, with or without a link, so 1,000 posts cost $0.065 to $0.10. Uploading an image is one more call. You also pay for your own proxy.

For the official X API, the reference point both services compare against: $0.015 per post created (as of October 2026) and $0.200 per post with a URL (as of October 2026). Our [guide to what posting to X from code costs](https://www.twittrapi.com/blog/cheapest-way-to-post-to-x-programmatically) works through 1,000 posts a month, with and without links, for these and two other services.

## Where OpenTweet is the better fit

- **Official API and OAuth.** You connect your account once through X's own sign-in. No session cookie leaves your browser, and no proxy is needed.
- **Inside X's rules for automation.** Posting through the official API on an account you authorized is the route X supports. Our account actions use your web session instead; X can limit or suspend accounts that post, follow or like automatically, and our [session docs](https://www.twittrapi.com/docs/x-session) say so.
- **A scheduler you can see.** Calendar, threads, evergreen queue and AI writing, so people can review what an agent queued.
- **Cross-posting** to Bluesky and LinkedIn from the same draft.
- **Managed agent posting.** a hosted MCP server with 43 tools, a REST API and a CLI (as of October 2026), ready to connect.

## Where TwittrAPI fits better

- **Volume and links.** Each post is one call at the same price, links included, and we set no daily post cap. X's own limits for the account still apply.
- **Replies, likes, follows and DMs** from your own account, one call each.
- **Reading X**: search, timelines, followers, lists, communities and trends, on the same key and balance.
- **Account monitoring**: new posts of any public account by webhook.
- **Many accounts** without a per-plan account limit; each call carries the session of the account it acts for.

Many setups use both: a scheduler on the official API for the brand account, and an API for reading and for actions the official route does not cover.

TwittrAPI is not affiliated with X Corp. or OpenTweet. Reading data needs no X account; [account actions](https://www.twittrapi.com/docs/account-actions) use your own X session cookie and proxy. Check whether that fits your compliance requirements before you build on it.

## Frequently asked questions

### Does OpenTweet use the official X API?

Yes. Its FAQ says it publishes through the official X API; no scraping, no logged-in browser session, no password (as of October 2026). TwittrAPI account actions do not use the official API; they act through the X session cookie of your own account and your proxy.

### How many posts with links does OpenTweet allow?

30, 300, 600 posts with links per month (Pro, Advanced, Agency) (as of October 2026), and more link posts as an add-on (link credits) (as of October 2026). During the trial it is 5 link posts in total during the trial (15 for agent and automation accounts) (as of October 2026). TwittrAPI has no separate link limit: a post with a link is one call like any other.

### What does a post cost on each?

On OpenTweet, at full use of a plan's daily posts, $0.033 on Pro, $0.0097 on Advanced, $0.0054 on Agency per post, every daily post used (as of October 2026). On TwittrAPI, one call: 1,000 posts cost $0.065 to $0.10, plus your proxy.

### Can I read tweets or monitor accounts with OpenTweet?

OpenTweet reads your own account's analytics and can search X for posts to repurpose; not a firehose, no monitoring of other accounts (as of October 2026). TwittrAPI reads public data (search, timelines, followers, lists) and monitors public accounts by webhook.

### Can an agent reply to other people's posts?

Not through OpenTweet: agents cannot reply to other people's posts, because of X's API reply rules (as of October 2026). X's changelog describes the rule: on self-serve tiers, replies through POST /2/tweets only when the original author mentioned or quoted the replying account (since February 23, 2026) (as of October 2026). TwittrAPI has a reply endpoint, which acts through your own X session rather than the official API.
