Count your post the way X does: links count 23, emoji and Chinese, Japanese or Korean characters count 2. Check it against 280 or the 25,000 of Premium long posts, and split longer text into a numbered thread you can copy post by post. Runs in your browser.

How it works

## How the character counter works

X counts posts with weights, not plain characters. The counter follows the same rules.

1. 01

  Links count 23

Every URL, with or without https://, as X shortens it with t.co.
2. 02

  Emoji count 2

One emoji is 2, also with a skin tone, a flag or a combined emoji.
3. 03

Other characters count 1 or 2

Latin, Cyrillic, Arabic and similar scripts count 1; Chinese, Japanese, Korean and most symbols count 2.
4. 04

  Split into a thread

Posts break at sentences, then lines, then words, with optional 1/n numbering.

Post from your own code: `POST /client/create` posts a tweet or a long post, and `POST /client/reply` adds each next post of a thread. See [account actions](https://www.twittrapi.com/docs/account-actions).

FAQ

## Frequently asked questions

**How many characters can a post on X have?**

280 for a standard post. Accounts with X Premium can post up to 25,000 characters; X shows the first 280 and a Show more link.

**Why does X count some characters as 2?**

X weighs characters. Latin, Greek, Cyrillic, Arabic, Hebrew and most Indian scripts count 1. Chinese, Japanese and Korean characters, emoji and most symbols count 2, so a post in Japanese holds about 140 characters.

**How do links count?**

Every link counts as 23 characters, however long or short it is, because X shortens it with t.co. A link without https:// counts too when X recognizes the domain, like example.com.

**Do emoji with skin tones or flags count more?**

No. Each emoji counts as 2, including skin tones, flags and combined emoji like a family or a person at a laptop.

**How does the thread splitter work?**

It fills each post up to the limit and breaks at the end of a sentence or line when it can, otherwise between words. With numbering on, it adds 1/5, 2/5 and so on, and keeps room for them.

**Is my text sent anywhere?**

No. Counting and splitting run in your browser. Nothing you type leaves the page.
