How it works

How the video downloader works

  1. 01

    Paste the post link

x.com, twitter.com and mobile links all work, or just the post ID.

  2. 02

    We look up the post

Our server calls GET /simpletweet/{tweetId}?format=simple. The simple format lists each photo, video and GIF under media, with the MP4 of the highest bitrate as url.

  3. 03

    You get direct links

Videos and GIFs as MP4 on video.twimg.com, photos in original size on pbs.twimg.com.

  4. 04

    Your browser downloads the file

From X's servers, not ours. Nothing is stored.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How do I download a video from X (Twitter)?

Open the post on X, tap Share and Copy link, paste the link here and press Get video. Each video and GIF of the post gets a Download MP4 button; photos get a Download photo button in original size.

Which quality do I get?

The MP4 with the highest bitrate X offers for that video, usually the best resolution available. The size shown next to it, like 1280x720, is the size of that file.

Do the files go through your server?

No. We only look up the post to find the links. The video, GIF or photo downloads in your browser straight from X's media servers (video.twimg.com and pbs.twimg.com). We do not store or copy them.

Can I download GIFs?

Yes. X stores GIFs as short MP4 videos, so you get an MP4 file. Most apps and chats play it like a GIF.

What if the video is in a quoted post?

If the post you linked quotes another post with media, the quoted post's videos and photos are listed too. For a repost, the tool uses the original post.

Why does it say the post was not found?

The post may be deleted, from a protected account, or not shown by X in your region. Check that the link opens on x.com without signing in. Posts of protected accounts cannot be downloaded.

Can I download videos from a whole account?

Not with this tool. The API lists an account's media posts page by page (GET /user/{userId}/media), each with its video and photo links.
