Real-time account monitoring

Twitter Streaming API alternative: new tweets by webhook in seconds

Pick the X accounts you want to follow. We check them at least every 1, 5 or 60 seconds and POST every new tweet to your webhook, signed. No connection to keep open, no X developer account.

Any public account, no follower minimum. From $5 a month for 10 accounts.

$0.10 free credit after sign-up. Plans are paid monthly from your prepaid balance.

Delayed replay of real tweets from the last 12 hours for the selected topic, newest at the top. Each tweet shows when it was posted and how many followers its author has.

Background

What happened to the Twitter Streaming API

For years the free streaming endpoints were how bots, alert channels and dashboards got new tweets the moment they were posted: open a connection, pass the accounts to follow or the words to track, read tweets as they arrive. Those free endpoints no longer exist.

X's current API still has a filtered stream, as part of its paid access. On pay-per-use you get 1 connection and 1,000 rules on pay-per-useas of Oct 2026, and you run the connection, the reconnects and the backfill yourself. The webhooks of its Activity API for new posts cost $0.005 per new-post webhook event (post.create)as of Oct 2026, so the bill grows with how much the accounts post.

Most people who used the stream wanted one thing: new tweets from a list of accounts, fast, without running infrastructure for it. That is what account monitoring does. You add the accounts, we check them on a fixed schedule and push each new tweet to you.

From stream to webhook

What you used the stream for, and how it works here

Account monitoring covers following accounts. Keyword tracking is done with search, honestly labeled as polling.

Follow accounts (the follow parameter)

With TwittrAPI
Account monitoring: add the accounts with POST /monitors/accounts, new tweets arrive at your webhook within 1, 5 or 60 seconds.

Track keywords, hashtags, cashtags (track)

With TwittrAPI
Poll search with since_id:, so each poll returns only new tweets. One call per poll.

Keep a connection open and reconnect

With TwittrAPI
Nothing to keep open: we POST every tweet to your https endpoint.

Catch up after a disconnect

With TwittrAPI
Deliveries are retried for 24 hours; GET /monitors/events returns the last 7 days.

Know a tweet is genuine

With TwittrAPI
Every delivery is signed with HMAC-SHA256 and carries a delivery ID to deduplicate.

Sample stream (1% of all tweets)

With TwittrAPI
Not offered.

Prices

A flat monthly price per plan

A plan is a number of accounts and a speed. You pay it monthly from your prepaid balance; there is no charge per tweet or per request, however much the accounts post.

  • From $5 a month for 10 accounts in Standard, $19 in Real-time.
  • Down to $0.10 per account and month with 5,000 accounts.
  • Any public account, no follower minimum, the same speed for every account in the plan.
  • Upgrades apply at once (you pay the prorated difference); downgrades at the end of the period.

Setup

Live in three steps

Book a plan in the dashboard, then everything else is two API calls. An account watched by several customers is checked once and fanned out to all of them, so a popular account is not slower than a niche one.

  • Delivery starts with the first tweet after an account is added; older tweets are not sent.
  • Replies, retweets and quotes are included and marked (replyTo, retweetOf, quoted), so you can filter on your side.
  • Prefer pulling? Read new events from the event feed instead of, or as well as, the webhook.

Use cases

What people build with it

  • Alert channels: new tweets from chosen accounts into Telegram, Discord or Slack within seconds.
  • Crypto and trading desks: founders, projects and analysts, the moment they post. See crypto monitoring.
  • Newsrooms: agencies, officials and local accounts, including small ones that other services check less often.
  • Brand and competitor watch: company, executive and competitor accounts. Mentions by everyone else come from search; see social listening.
  • AI agents and automations: a webhook that starts a workflow for every new tweet, in n8n, Make or your own code.

FAQ

Twitter streaming questions

Is there still a free Twitter Streaming API?

No. The old free v1.1 streaming endpoints that many bots and dashboards were built on are gone. X's current API has a filtered stream, but it is part of its paid pay-per-use or Enterprise access and you keep a connection open yourself. TwittrAPI watches the accounts for you and sends every new tweet to your webhook.

What is the best alternative to the Twitter Streaming API for following accounts?

A service that watches the accounts and pushes new tweets to you. On TwittrAPI you add the accounts once and get every new tweet by signed webhook within 1, 5 or 60 seconds, depending on the plan, from $5 a month for 10 accounts. There is no follower minimum: small accounts are checked as often as big ones.

Can I stream keywords or hashtags like the old track parameter?

Not as a push stream. Account monitoring follows accounts. For keywords, cashtags or hashtags you poll search with since_id, so each poll returns only new tweets. Every poll is one call; one query every 30 seconds costs about $7.78 a month at Standard.

Do small accounts get the same speed?

Yes. There is no follower threshold and no slower lane: every public account you add is checked at the guaranteed interval of your plan, whether it has 50 followers or 5 million.

Do I need an X developer account or an X login?

No. You get an API key from us. Watching accounts needs no X account at all.

How fast is it really?

The class is the longest gap between two checks: at least every 1 s in Real-time (usually 0.5–1 s), 5 s in Fast, 60 s in Standard. X's own delay and your webhook's response time come on top. Every event carries tweetCreatedAt and detectedAt, so you can measure it.

Do I have to keep a connection open?

No. We send each new tweet to your https webhook as a signed POST. If your server is down, deliveries are retried for 24 hours, and the last 7 days of events can be pulled with GET /monitors/events, so a restart does not lose tweets.

Which accounts can I watch?

Any public account. Protected accounts cannot be watched. Plans hold 10 to 5,000 accounts, and you can add up to 100 accounts per request.
